About

This website is a demonstration project for orchid lovers - an attempt to create a database that is at once efficient, easily navigable, and durable for ages to come.

Don't we already have an orchidspecies.com?

Yes! IOSPE, maintained by Jay Pfahl, is a wonderful source of information, and the result of tireless hours of research and maintenance. However, in my humble opinion, it has gone on it age. Some of the design decisions could be updated, and on the backend, there are possibly quality of life improvements to be made that could make updating information on the site easier. To that end, if I ever finish this project, I intend to release the code to public domain to allow anyone to use it how they wish.
